Private Jet service is now accepting bitcoin payments for jet charters, in partnership with digital payment processor BitPay.
The company allows customers to book private flights (which usually come in at five-figures per flight) via their website and mobile app — and with 7,000 aircraft available for hiring out, there’s a good chance you’ll get your flight when you need it.
PrivateFly says they’ve been watching bitcoin since the beginning of 2012, and finally decided to go ahead with accepting it following a number of customer requests.
“We were surprised to find that bitcoin offers private jet customers many advantages over traditional currency payments via banks and credit cards,” said Adam Twidell. Those advantages include instant payments outside of banking hours, reliability, and more.
Twidell estimates that 5 percent of future flights could be paid with in bitcoin. ()
