Grayscale Investments, a US-based asset management firm, in its <a href=\"https:\/\/grayscale.co\/using-bitcoin-to-hedge-against-global-financial-crises\/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=2019_q2_hedging_report\" rel=\"nofollow\">latest report<\/a>, highlighted many of bitcoin&#8217;s bullish responses to the macroeconomic concerns noted across the past five years. Before the US-China trade war, the cryptocurrency surged impressively amidst Brexit, Greece debt crisis, and events like <a href=\"https:\/\/wncen.com\/2016\/12\/19\/bitcoin-remains-viable-option-avoid-capital-controls-china\/\">capital control in China<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWhile it is still very early in Bitcoin\u2019s life cycle as an investable asset, we have identified evidence supporting the notion that it can serve as a hedge in a global liquidity crisis, particularly those that result in subsequent currency devaluations,\u201d \u2014 wrote Grayscale.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The global market has now shifted its hope to a probably meeting between President Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping\u00a0during this month&#8217;s G20 summit in Osaka.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Financial Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/b04b328c-8e53-11e9-a1c1-51bf8f989972\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">reported<\/a> that Trump is feeling pressure from hundreds of companies and trade associations to negotiate with China. In a joint letter addressed to the US president, retail giants like Walmart, Ikea, Target, and J Crew urged the supremo to not move forward with tariffs on China.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe additional tariffs will have a significant, negative and long-term impact on American businesses, farmers, families and the US economy,\u201d the 661 signatories urged. \u201cBroadly applied tariffs are not an effective tool to change China\u2019s unfair trade practices. Tariffs are taxes paid directly by US companies\u2026not China\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Weak Economic Calendar<\/h2>\n<p>Even though Trump and Jinping bury the hatchet, the move will be less likely to affect bitcoin&#8217;s bullish bias in medium-term.<\/p>\n<p>Alex Saunders, the CEO,\u00a0and\u00a0co-founder of Nugget News, a YouTube-based cryptocurrency channel, reminded that bitcoin is becoming scarce, pointing to a &#8216;halving event&#8217; next year that would cut the cryptocurrency&#8217;s supply rate by half.
