Even the handful of altcoins that have made good gains are now losing them as BTC crushed them all with its increasing market share.<\/p>\n<h2>Bitcoin Dominance at 2 Year High<\/h2>\n<p>According to charts on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/CRYPTOCAP-BTC.D\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Tradingview.com<\/a> BTC dominance topped 72.5 percent today. Its recent move back into five figures has kept the digital asset within its range bound channel but the altcoins have not shared in similar momentum.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_394935\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-394935\" style=\"width: 860px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wncen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/btcdom725.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-394935\" src=\"https:\/\/wncen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/btcdom725.jpg?resize=860%2C470\" alt=\"bitcoin\" width=\"860\" height=\"470\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-394935\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">BTC dominance &#8211; Tradingview.com<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The last time <a href=\"https:\/\/wncen.com\/2019\/09\/02\/bitcoin-dominance-to-surge-even-higher-altcoin-annihilation-inbound\/\">Bitcoin dominance<\/a> was this high was back in July 2017 when it was priced at just $2,450 with a market capitalization of $900 million. This was a spike, however, so the previous sustained period of BTC supremacy was further back in May 2017 when it fell from over 80 percent.<\/p>\n<p>According to analysts it could be facing resistance here though as there are a number of bearish signals appearing on the chart according to \u2018alan masters\u2019 who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/chart\/BTC.D\/1bfYmOWK-BTC-Dominance-Facing-Resistance-Soon-Where-To-Next\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">posted<\/a> his TA on Tradingview.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe have low and decreasing volume.<br \/>\nBearish divergence showing up on the MACD and RSI.<br \/>\nStrong resistance ahead.<br \/>\nRSI Overbought.<br \/>\nOur main scenario is marked with arrows on the chart. This time around however they appear to be breaking down as Bitcoin continues to consolidate.<\/p>\n<h2>Altcoin Apocalypse<\/h2>\n<p>Total <a href=\"https:\/\/wncen.com\/2019\/09\/02\/industry-exec-us-has-become-hostile-towards-crypto-what-should-investors-expect\/\">crypto market<\/a> capitalization is currently at $265 billion which is up $15 billion, or 6 percent on the day. This is virtually all BTC\u2019s work though as the altcoins have not shared in similar gains.<\/p>\n<p>Ethereum has eked out a tiny gain of 3.5 percent in a <a href=\"https:\/\/wncen.com\/2019\/09\/03\/ethereum-price-eth-struggling-near-180-while-bitcoin-breaks-key-resistance\/\">push towards $180<\/a> which, at the time of writing, could not be sustained. XRP has barely moved but Bitcoin Cash has added 5 percent as it closes on $300 once again.<\/p>\n<p>Binance Coin has also grabbed 5 percent to reach $23 but it too is down substantially from recent highs.
